England will win the World Cup in my lifetime
|
I'm 38 and the 90 world cup destroyed so much hope for years to come. It set a precedent for every tournament since with qualifying being always easy but crumble as soon as the pressure hit.
So many potentially world class youngsters coming through to add to the quality we already have and no demons on their shoulders.
More likely than us winning the league

Russia 2018 was excellent and it would have been a glorious final. I hope that Qatar 2022 (less said the better) and USA 2026 (two teams qualifying from groups of three - how can that work???) won't kill off the World Cup. Some nice looking choices already up for 2030 though.

I can assure you that as a football supporter seeing your club winning the league is far more satisfying than seeing your national team winning the WC. Infact I've never seen my club winning the league but I've experienced two times the WC victory.

I remember people making the team for the 2012 Olympics saying Freddie Sears etc. I think only 1 actually played...

hahahaha!! i'll give you Sancho, and you know why he's so good? because he moved abroad. the rest barely get a look-in for their clubs - let alone making the grade at international level.

2018 was a massive chance. I don’t think they would have beaten France if they could have closed out Croatia ... but who knows in a one off BUT .... I’m not sure Germany, Spain, Brazil etc will be as average all at the same time again
Plus the upcoming World Cups will be in 2022 Qatar 2026 US / Canada / Mexico 2030 maybe Uruguay/Argentina will most likely have weather conditions not particularly conducive to English players

I wouldn't completely rule out the chance of a World Cup at some point in the next 20 years...
The coaching is on a different level nowadays...technically the players are much better because they are encouraged to develop their skills. When I played youth football in the 80's it was all about lumping it forward as quickly as possible because the result was more important than anything else.
The mentality now is that the result of the match isn't the primary objective but if you encourage the skill and right habits then eventually it raises the standard and more matches are won than lost - playing in a manner which gives them a chance of competing later on.
About fucking time too

Phil Foden Jadon Sancho Reiss Nelson Mason Mount Declan Rice Ademola Lookman
Players that are wanted or have played in the Bundesliga, plus players tat are playing regularly in first teams
Man U have a player, Greenwood, that people are comparing to the very best that they have ever had, so that thruway remark is foundless
We do have the talent, we need to nurture it

England wont be winning anything in your and anyone else's lifetime without serious change. Germany/Spain may have had a poor world cup but they are still producing youngsters light years ahead of England.

At this time I would say the top countries in the past aren't as good as they used to be. It gives us a better chance and one day given luck and if we learn enough on the journey we could go all the way.

Not a single English player in the Liverpool v Arsenal game yesterday and unless that changes big time England have no chance at all.We only done ok this year because we played the poorer sides and still lost three games out of seven.

If the youngsters get a regular chance of first team football then yes I can see it happening. They might have to go abroad though like the boy who went to Dortmund to get the experience
